Tivat Municipality signs €270,000 contract for 2040 spatial‑urban plan
The municipal government of Tivat, Montenegro, and the Executive Director of the Montenegrin Spatial Planning Agency, Svetlana Jovanović, signed a contract worth €270,000 to develop a new Spatial‑Urban Plan (PUP) covering the entire municipality through 2040. The agreement obliges the agency to deliver a draft within 12 months after the official decision. A public meeting was held with representatives from Tivat’s local communities to gather suggestions on issues such as parking shortages, traffic pressure, and the need for pedestrian and bicycle paths along the Seljanovo stream. The plan must balance development with environmental protection because Tivat lies within a UNESCO buffer zone, requiring careful management of cultural heritage, water resources, and infrastructure expansion.
The contract marks a step toward greater public participation in local planning, with further phases including detailed projections and a public consultation period before the final plan is adopted.
