Police shootouts in Dominican Republic and Mexico kill two fugitives
In the Dominican Republic, Adolfo María Bello Heredia, known as ‘Jonathan’, died following a shootout with the Dirección Central de Investigación (DICRIM) in Tamayo, Barahona. Bello Heredia was a primary suspect in the August 1, 2026, homicide of José Marte Marte in Hato Mayor, an attack that reportedly occurred in the presence of the victim's 10-year-old son. Authorities stated that the suspect opened fire on officers during the attempt to execute an arrest warrant, prompting police to return fire. A .38 caliber revolver was recovered at the scene.
In Mexico, a violent confrontation occurred in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, during an operation by the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR). The shootout resulted in the death of Adahan Medina Palomares, a man wanted for drug trafficking and sexual assault in Nayarit. During the exchange of gunfire, an FGR agent was wounded but is reported to be in stable condition. Following the initial clash, local police detained another individual suspected of participating in the attack.
