Violence involving FGR agents in Mexico
Overview
Recent incidents involving agents from the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) have resulted in casualties and injuries during law enforcement operations in Mexico.
In Zacatecas, an FGR agent died and two others were injured following a vehicle pursuit on Federal Highway 54 near Villa de Cos. The FGR reported that a cargo truck driver fled a stop order and struck a patrol car, causing it to overturn. The driver was subsequently located and detained.
In Jalisco, a violent armed confrontation occurred in the Lomas del Mirador neighborhood of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga during an attempt to execute an arrest warrant. The target, identified as Adahan Medina Palomares, was killed during the shootout after reportedly opening fire on federal agents. Medina Palomares was wanted for drug-related offenses and held an active warrant in Nayarit for rape.
During the exchange of gunfire, one federal agent from the Agencia de Investigación Criminal was wounded but is reported to be in stable condition and expected to be discharged soon. Following the clash, a large-scale security operation was deployed involving local and state police, as well as aerial support from a Black Hawk helicopter. Local municipal police detained another individual suspected of participating in the attack, who was found in possession of a firearm.
