Túlio Gadêlha confirms Senate candidacy and announces alternates
Federal Deputy Túlio Gadêlha (PSD) has officially confirmed his candidacy for the Senate in Pernambuco as part of Governor Raquel Lyra’s political slate. The announcement follows recent rumors regarding his potential withdrawal from the race, which Gadêlha has denied.
During a press conference at the PSD headquarters in Recife, Gadêlha introduced his two alternates: former state deputy Dulci Amorim (PSD), representing the Sertão region, and Chief Marcelo Pankararu (Avante), representing indigenous peoples. The selection aims to promote political diversity and regional representation.
The decision follows internal negotiations after reports suggested Gadêlha might withdraw if André Teixeira Filho declined a substitute position. It has since been clarified that Teixeira will remain in a strategic role coordinating Governor Lyra’s campaign instead.
In the Araripe region, other political movements are unfolding. The Mayor of Araripina, Evilásio Mateus (PSD), declared support for Eduardo da Fonte (PP) for the Senate, while candidates Raimundo Pimentel (PSD) and Antônio Fernando (Avante) announced a political partnership in Ouricuri to strengthen regional representation.
