TNA Wrestling announces return of Lethal Lockdown match

TNA Wrestling has announced the return of the Lethal Lockdown match for the Lockdown pay-per-view on August 23 in Chicago, Illinois. The match type returns for the first time in ten years.

The announcement followed a singles match on the August 13 edition of TNA iMPACT where K. C. Navarro defeated Eddie Edwards despite interference from Alisha Edwards. Following the bout, members of The System—Bear Bronson and Brian Myers—attacked Navarro. Ricky Sosa, Jada Stone, and Fabian Aichner intervened to repel the faction.

Director of Authority Santino Marella subsequently sanctioned a Lethal Lockdown match between The System (Eddie Edwards, Bear Bronson, Brian Myers, and Alisha Edwards) and the team of Ricky Sosa, K. C. Navarro, Jada Stone, and Fabian Aichner.

The Lockdown event features several other cage matches, including a TNA World Tag Team Championship defense by The Hardys against the Nemeth Brothers, and a TNA X Division Championship match between Cedric Alexander and Leon Slater.
