TNA Wrestling has announced a series of steel cage matches for its upcoming Lockdown pay-per-view event on August 23 at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois. In response, Director of Authority Santino Marella sanctioned the return of the ‘Lethal Lockdown’ match, marking the first time in ten years the match type has been used. The match will see The System (Eddie Edwards, Bear Bronson, Brian Myers, and Alisha Edwards) face the team of Ricky Sosa, K. C. Navarro, Jada Stone, and Fabian Aichner.

Additionally, TNA has detailed an unprecedented stipulation for the X-Division Championship match between Cedric Alexander and Leon Slater. If Slater loses the steel cage match, his entire championship reign will be “officially erased from TNA history.” Under this stipulation, the title history would record the championship passing directly from Moose to Alexander, with Slater’s tenure listed as a period of inactivity. This would restore Amazing Red as the youngest X-Division Champion in company history and leave Austin Aries as the sole record holder for the longest reign.
