TNO, Perovion, and Toyo Seikan expand solar cell collaboration

TNO, Perovion Technologies, and Toyo Seikan Group Holdings have agreed to intensify their joint development activities to industrialize lightweight, flexible perovskite solar cells. The partnership aims to accelerate the transition from technology development to practical application and mass production.

The collaboration combines perovskite solar technology developed by TNO and Perovion with Toyo Seikan Group’s expertise in advanced materials, encapsulation, and module integration. Perovion is specifically focusing on scalable roll-to-roll manufacturing processes to support this next-generation solar technology.

A memorandum of understanding was signed at the Dutch embassy in Tokyo. The parties have established a shared roadmap to address technical challenges, including improving the performance, durability, and manufacturing suitability of perovskite cells for large-scale commercial use.
