Tocantins Senate race: Gomes and Guimarães lead in latest poll

The 2026 Senate race in Tocantins is shaping up with several key developments. According to a Real Time Big Data poll, Senator Eduardo Gomes (PL) leads the race with 26% of the intended votes, followed by Alexandre Guimarães (MDB) at 18%. Other candidates include Carlos Gaguim (União) with 10% and Vanderlei Luxemburgo (Podemos) with 9%.

Carlos Gaguim, who was recently voted as the best federal deputy for Tocantins in the Congresso em Foco 2026 awards, has also received a favorable opinion from the Regional Electoral Prosecutor's Office regarding his Senate candidacy. The Prosecutor's Office reviewed and cleared his registration after he provided necessary documentation to resolve previous formal irregularities.

During his campaign, Gaguim has pledged to defend state public servants, citing his past administration's efforts regarding salary adjustments and functional progressions. Meanwhile, Vanderlei Luxemburgo's campaign, supported by Daniel Walison, is focusing on increasing visibility in the Bico do Papagaio region.
