Toei Animation denies Dragon Ball theme park license in France

Toei Animation has officially denied granting any licenses for a reported Dragon Ball theme park project in France. The denial follows reports of a massive €6 billion ($7 billion) investment partnership between France and Saudi Arabia to build three theme parks near Paris.

The confusion reportedly stemmed from the use of promotional concept art and videos during the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Toei Animation clarified that these visual materials actually belong to a separate, licensed Dragon Ball project being developed by the Qiddiya Investment Company in Saudi Arabia.

While the French proposal was inspired by a shared interest in manga between the two leaders, Toei Animation stated that neither the company nor the other Japanese rights holders have authorized the use of the Dragon Ball intellectual property for a park in France.
