Proposed Dragon Ball theme park in France

Reports initially surfaced regarding a major leisure project in the Cergy-Pontoise region near Paris, proposed by the Saudi Arabian Qiddiya Investment Company. The project, potentially involving several billion euros in investment and the creation of up to 22,000 jobs, was suggested to include a theme park dedicated to the ‘Dragon Ball’ franchise at the former Mirapolis site.

Toei Animation has since officially denied granting any licenses for a Dragon Ball-themed park in France. The studio clarified that the confusion stemmed from the use of promotional concept art and videos during an announcement involving French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Toei Animation noted that these visual materials actually belong to a separate, licensed Dragon Ball project being developed by the Qiddiya Investment Company in Saudi Arabia.

While the broader investment plan involving France and Saudi Arabia includes the construction of three theme parks, Toei Animation stated that neither the company nor other Japanese rights holders have authorized the use of the Dragon Ball intellectual property for a park in France.
