Togo advances gender equality in business and politics
In Togo, initiatives are underway to address gender inequality in both the professional and political spheres. The National Patronage Council of Togo (CNP-Togo), supported by the European Union and various partners, is developing a charter to promote and protect the rights of women and girls within the private sector. This initiative aims to establish a common framework for equality and dignity in professional environments.
Simultaneously, efforts are being made to increase female political representation. Despite women making up 51% of the Togolese population, they hold a disproportionately low number of parliamentary and executive positions. To combat this, the Groupe de réflexion et d’action Femme, Démocratie et Développement (GF2D) has launched leadership training programs for young women to prepare a new generation of political leaders and strengthen participatory democracy.
