Togo expands transit tracking and initiates road project audit

The Togolese Office of Revenue (OTR) has launched a pilot phase for a tracking project involving petroleum transport vehicles transiting to landlocked countries, including Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. This initiative aims to enhance cargo security, improve tracking efficiency, and provide better oversight for economic operators and the state. The project expands upon a tracking system for diverse goods that has been in place since October 2022.

Separately, the Togolese government is recruiting a consultant to conduct a closing audit of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Lomé-Cotonou road rehabilitation and coastal protection project. Funded by the African Development Bank, this audit will evaluate the implementation of social compensation and support measures for populations affected by the infrastructure works. The audit is expected to last 45 days, with a scheduled start in October 2026.
