Togo economic and infrastructure reform initiatives

Togo has undertaken several initiatives focused on economic reform, infrastructure oversight, and revenue management.

Initially, the government launched open house days to review the performance of World Bank-funded national projects. These efforts, presided over by Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou, targeted private sector performance and job creation through improved business climates. Key reforms included the digitization of land titles, accelerated customs clearance, and tax initiatives by the Office Togolais des Recettes (OTR), such as reducing corporate tax to 28% and expanding mobile payments for SMEs.

Building on these administrative and revenue-focused efforts, the OTR launched a pilot tracking project for petroleum transport vehicles transiting to landlocked nations like Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso to enhance cargo security. Additionally, the government initiated a closing audit for the African Development Bank-funded Lomé-Cotonou road rehabilitation and coastal protection project to evaluate social compensation measures for affected populations.
