Togo initiatives promote women's economic and leadership empowerment
Various initiatives in Togo are targeting women's empowerment through economic training and leadership development. In Datcha, the DUBIEN association conducted a capacity-building session for women and young girls in the Ogou 2 commune. The training focused on the technical skills required to manufacture cosmetic products, such as bar and liquid soaps and deodorants, to foster economic autonomy and entrepreneurship.
In Lomé, the NGO AVIP-Togo launched the ‘Women leaders for justice and local governance’ project. Supported by German Cooperation through GIZ, the initiative aims to strengthen female leadership in the Zio 2 and Avé 2 communes. The project includes training women on their rights, duties, and leadership skills, while also engaging men in discussions regarding positive masculinity to promote gender equity and community involvement.
