Togo integrates anti-corruption education into university curricula
The High Authority for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption (HAPLUCIA) in Togo has launched an initiative to integrate anti-corruption education and integrity promotion into university programs. As part of a pilot phase, HAPLUCIA recently conducted training for professors and researchers at the University of Kara.
The training focused on fundamental concepts of corruption, prevention, and good governance. Educators were provided with pedagogical tools to adapt these ethics to various disciplines, such as law, economics, and science, rather than following a standardized lecture format. The goal is to officially implement these programs into academic curricula starting in the 2026-2027 academic year.
HAPLUCIA President Kimelabalou Aba stated that the University of Kara serves as an experimental laboratory. If successful, the model may be expanded to other higher education institutions and vocational training centers across the country to foster a culture of integrity among future professionals.
