Togo anti-corruption university education initiative

Overview

The High Authority for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption and Related Offenses (HAPLUCIA) has launched an initiative in Togo to integrate anti-corruption and integrity education into university curricula.

As part of a pilot phase, HAPLUCIA conducted training for professors and researchers at the University of Kara to provide them with pedagogical tools, such as manuals and case studies. This training allows educators to incorporate themes of ethics, transparency, and good governance into various disciplines including law, economics, and science.

HAPLUCIA President Kimelabalou Aba noted that the University of Kara is serving as an “experimental laboratory.” If the program is successful, the model may be expanded to other higher education institutions and vocational training centers throughout the country starting in the 2026-2027 academic year.
