Togo sanctions three students for Bac II 2026 exam fraud
Three candidates of the 2026 Bac II examinations in Togo have been sanctioned for academic fraud and the unauthorized use of mobile phones. The disciplinary measures were formalized in an order signed on September 18, 2026, by the Minister of National Education, Mama Omorou, and the Minister Delegate in charge of Higher Education and Research, Prof. Gado Tchangbedji.
Following a disciplinary council meeting on August 14, 2026, the Office du baccalauréat issued several penalties. One candidate, Abra Edwige Azameti, had her exam annulled after being caught with documents hidden in her clothing during a history-geography exam.
Two other candidates, Téyi Giovanni Lawson Avla and Abdou-Chakou Yerima, faced more severe consequences after being caught using mobile phones during their respective English and physics-chemistry exams. In addition to having their 2026 exams annulled, both students received suspensions for the 2026-2027 school year, meaning they are ineligible to retake the baccalaureate until the 2028 session.
