Togo Baccalauréat exam fraud sanctions
Overview
In September 2026, Togolese authorities announced sanctions against three candidates of the Baccalauréat II examinations following investigations into academic fraud.
According to a joint decree by the Minister of National Education, Mama Omorou, and the Minister Delegate for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Gado Tchangbedji, the Office du baccalauréat issued several penalties. One student, Abra Edwige Azameti, had her exam annulled after being caught with history-geography documents hidden in her clothing at Lycée Nyivémé.
Two other candidates, Téyi Giovanni Lawson Avla and Abdou-Chakou Yerima, were penalized for using mobile phones during English and physics-chemistry exams. Beyond the annulment of their 2026 results, these students received suspensions for the 2026-2027 academic year, rendering them ineligible to retake the examinations until the 2028 session.
