Togo launches e-TPU digital tax platform for small businesses

The Office Togolais des Recettes (OTR) has launched e-TPU, a new digital platform designed for the online declaration and payment of the Taxe Professionnelle Unique (TPU). Launched on September 17, 2026, in Lomé, the platform aims to modernize Togo's tax administration by allowing micro-enterprises, artisans, and small businesses to manage their tax obligations via computers, tablets, or smartphones. This shift from manual, paper-based processes to a 24/7 digital system is intended to reduce administrative errors, eliminate long queues at tax centers, and simplify compliance for small taxpayers.

Separately, Togo's economic outlook remains positive. During the third session of the National Credit Council (CNC), officials reported a projected economic growth rate of 6.3% for 2026, supported by the transport, trade, and port sectors, as well as the Adétikopé Industrial Platform (PIA). Inflation was reported at a controlled 0.5% as of late June 2026. While the macroeconomy shows resilience, authorities emphasized the need to improve access to credit for the agricultural sector and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to ensure growth translates into productive investment.
