Tokat begins urban transformation and demolition works

Demolition has commenced in Tokat as part of an urban transformation project covering four neighborhoods: Erenler, Kâbe-i Mescid, Cami-i Kebir, and Semerkant. Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu initiated the process in the Cami-i Kebir neighborhood, noting that the area faces risks from earthquakes and rockfalls.

The project aims to develop a total of 262 residential units across two stages. The first stage, consisting of 114 units, is nearing the lottery phase for distribution. The second stage, comprising 148 units, has completed its project design and is moving toward the tender process. Currently, approximately 150 stakeholders have reached agreements, with a target to increase this number to 200.

In addition to housing, the plan includes infrastructure improvements such as a 1.5-kilometer alternative road connecting the university hospital to the ring road, featuring bicycle and walking paths. The area around Tokat Castle will be reorganized into event spaces, green zones, and observation terraces to highlight the historical texture of the region.
