Tokyo Haneda near-miss: ANA 767 avoids collision with Cessna

On 4 August 2026, an All Nippon Airways (ANA) Boeing 767‑381ER operating flight NH968 approached Tokyo’s Haneda Airport when it came within a critical distance of a Japan Civil Aviation Bureau Cessna 525C flight‑inspection aircraft. The two aircraft were separated by only about 0.7 nautical miles vertically, roughly 20 metres, prompting the traffic‑collision‑avoidance system (TCAS) on the ANA jet to issue an alert. The ANA crew aborted the landing, climbed to a safer altitude and later completed a safe landing at 06:10 local time. No injuries were reported among the 197 passengers and crew on the ANA flight or the flight‑inspection crew. Japanese authorities, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the cause and prevent future occurrences.
