Tokyo Metro and Echizen Railway face service disruptions

On September 30, 2026, the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line experienced a temporary suspension of service across its entire line following a signal equipment failure at Toyocho Station around 5:54 AM. Although service resumed at approximately 7:07 AM, significant schedule disruptions persisted throughout the morning.

As a result of the delays, Tokyo Metro suspended rapid service and direct connections with the JR Chuo-Sobu Line and the Toyo Rapid Railway. Alternative transportation was provided via JR, Keisei, Hokuso, and other lines. The disruption also caused heavy congestion on the JR Sobu Rapid Line and reported traffic delays on roads near the Imai Bridge connecting Ichikawa City to Tokyo.

In a separate incident, Echizen Railway announced that service on the Katsuyama Eiheiji Line would aim to resume from the first train on September 29, following a full-day suspension on September 28. The stoppage was caused by a power outage resulting from a fallen tree.
