Tokyo police arrest crime syndicate member and adult film actress

Police in Tokyo have arrested Shota Sugawara, a 32-year-old member of the Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate, and adult film actress Seina Shin (born Seika Abe, 27) for suspected cocaine possession.

The arrests occurred in July 2026 at a hotel in Toshima Ward. During a police raid related to a separate investigation into Sugawara’s involvement in special fraud and attempted robbery, officers discovered approximately 0.7 grams of cocaine in bags found under bedsheets and on a bedside shelf.

Sugawara, identified by authorities as a leader of an ‘anonymous and fluid crime group’ (Tokuryu), has admitted to the drug allegations. Abe has denied using the substance. Investigators believe Sugawara may have used funds obtained through fraudulent activities to purchase illegal drugs and frequent the hotel for use.
