Tokyo retailers launch seasonal autumn and Mid-Autumn Festival sweets

Various retailers in Tokyo are launching seasonal autumn-themed sweets, focusing on ingredients like sweet potato, chestnut, and pear, as well as motifs related to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At Tokyo Station’s ‘Tokyo Gift Palette,’ several shops have introduced autumn offerings. Hanazono Manju is offering moist sweet potato treats, while BAKERS gonna BAKE has collaborated with Funawa to create a sweet potato paste pound cake. Other seasonal items include Butter Butler’s sweet potato financiers and VANILLABEANS THE ROASTERY TOKYO’s chestnut Earl Grey cookie sandwiches.

In preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 25, 2026, department stores such as Isetan and Mitsukoshi are highlighting rabbit-themed confections. Featured items include Cafe Tanaka’s ‘Rêve de Lune’ polvoron set, Enka Ten’s rabbit-branded mooncakes, and Obuse-do’s chestnut manju. Tokyo Kaikan is also participating with a decorative petit four set inspired by the moon and rabbits.
