Tokyo unveils children’s summer activities portal for 2026
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government on July 10, 2026 launched a dedicated website, “Tokyo Children’s Smile Big Adventure,” as part of its Children’s Smile Movement. The portal lists roughly 900 events and online programmes scheduled through August 31, covering workshops, cultural outings, music, sports, play‑parks, international activities, food, science and technology demos, environmental displays, contests and seminars. Users can search by date, genre, age range, location and amenities such as childcare or nursing rooms, and the site also features a “Cooling Shelter” guide to protect against heat.
A complementary guide spotlights Tokyo’s public splash‑pad parks that operate in the July‑August summer window, including Oyokogawa Park, Kitazawa Park, Shinjuku Chuo Park and Kodomo no Kuni. The guide notes opening times, available facilities, and local rules such as swim‑diaper restrictions and sunscreen bans.
