Mexican municipalities launch major public works and safety projects
Various Mexican municipalities have launched significant infrastructure and public works projects aimed at improving mobility and safety.
In Naucalpan, Mayor Isaac Montoya Márquez initiated a 14.2 million peso project in the San Rafael Chamapa IV neighborhood. This initiative focuses on a gender perspective to enhance safety for women and children through improved lighting, sidewalk rehabilitation, and the installation of ‘safe bubbles’—emergency refuge bus stops equipped with cameras connected to control centers.
In Atlixco, Mayor Ariadna Ayala is overseeing investments exceeding 48 million pesos to rehabilitate roads leading to auxiliary districts. Key projects include the Puente Colorado–Santo Domingo Atoyatempan highway and the Metepec–Atlimeyaya road, focusing on paving, drainage, and water systems.
Additionally, in Toluca, Mayor Ricardo Moreno has authorized the second stage of rehabilitating the Camino al Tejocote. This project aims to complete a four-kilometer corridor connecting San Pablo Autopan and Santiago Miltepec to the Toluca-Ixtlahuaca highway, benefiting nearly 14,000 residents through asphalt paving, sidewalk construction, and improved cycling paths.
