Mexico regional updates: Toluca infrastructure and business initiatives
Various municipal and regional initiatives are underway across Mexico and the border region. In Toluca, Mayor Ricardo Moreno announced that the city has repaired 72,000 potholes and will transition its road maintenance program from an emergency response to a permanent strategy involving 48 brigades. Additionally, the city is expanding its public lighting, having recently installed 1,000 LED lamps in several delegations to improve security and mobility.
In the economic sector, the ninth edition of the Festival Abarrotero was held at the Mercado Juárez in Toluca. Organized by the State of Mexico's Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDECO), the event provided approximately 2,000 small business owners with training in digital payments, administration, and web sales to facilitate technological transition and formalization.
Other regional updates include the installation of 5,000 luminaires in the Las Américas neighborhood of Ecatepec to enhance public safety. In Yecapixtla, Morelos, the local government is adding 100 new surveillance cameras to its C2 control center to combat highway insecurity. Meanwhile, in Tijuana, a collaborative cleaning effort has begun in the Tijuana River to prevent flooding risks associated with the El Niño phenomenon. In Tuxtla, the Pollotón program distributed poultry packages to families in San José Terán to support local food security and household economies.
