Mexican municipalities offer debt discounts for water and utility services
Several Mexican municipalities and water utilities are offering deadline-driven incentives for citizens to regularize debts and pay taxes.
In Puebla, Agua de Puebla has announced that its “Regularízate” program expires on September 30, 2026. The program offers a 40% discount on principal debt and a 100% waiver on surcharges for households with outstanding water, drainage, and sanitation debts of seven months or more.
In Toluca, Mayor Ricardo Moreno has called on residents to settle debts with the Organismo Agua y Saneamiento de Toluca (OAyST) by September 30. The incentives include a 100% discount on surcharges for both domestic and commercial users, as well as a 25% discount on new domestic connections for water and drainage services.
