Tolyatti chemical plant hit by drone attack in Russia

A major fire broke out at the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast, following reports of a drone attack. The facility produces synthetic rubber and petrochemical raw materials, supplying approximately 25% of the Russian market. Its products are reportedly used in the manufacturing of components for aviation and armored vehicles.

Local reports and video footage show thick smoke rising from the site. There have been unconfirmed reports of an evacuation of employees at the nearby AvtoVAZ automotive plant. While the scale of damage and casualties remains unverified by official sources, the strike targets a critical node in Russia's industrial and chemical supply chain.

In a separate development, an attack on the Taman 500/220 kV substation in the Krasnodar Krai has reportedly caused a total power outage across the occupied Crimean Peninsula. NASA's thermal monitoring system confirmed the destruction of the substation, which facilitates electricity transmission from southern Russia to Crimea. Local authorities in Sevastopol reported that the city temporarily lost power and transitioned to backup systems following drone strikes on energy infrastructure.
