Tom Hiddleston leads National Geographic’s new Pompeii documentary series

Actor Tom Hiddleston stars as the host of National Geographic’s three‑part documentary‑drama “Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston”. The series blends re‑created scenes with archaeological investigation, following the final hours before the Vesuvius eruption through the stories of a young apprentice, an influential businesswoman and a mysterious praetorian guard. It premieres on National Geographic on 26 July at 21:50 UTC and becomes available for streaming on Disney+ from 23 July.

Hiddleston said, “The antiquity has always fascinated me… it is the foundation of European culture, and visiting Pompeii feels as if the 2,000‑year gap disappears.” The program is produced by Plimsoll Productions with executive producer Kevin R. Wright, who previously worked on the Marvel series “Loki”.
