Poland pushes ahead with multiple railway infrastructure upgrades

Polish railway operator PKP PLK signed a contract worth 1.94 million zł to modernise the Spała tourist stop, adding a new 85‑metre platform, a wooden shelter reflecting local tradition and upgraded tracks, with work slated for completion by December 2026.

In the Łódzkie region, PKP S.A. opened a tender for the comprehensive refurbishment of the historic Tomaszów Mazowiecki station. The project will rebuild the waiting hall, install new benches, passenger‑information systems, lifts, Braille signage and a heat‑pump‑powered heating system, with bids due by 21 August.

Further west, work on line 309 between Kłodzko and Kudowa‑Zdrój continues, featuring new track sections, a rebuilt peron, replacement of a steel bridge over national road 8 and installation of a new passing loop, accelerating the line’s modernization.

Separately, the Newag manufacturer secured a contract with the Podlaskie regional authority to supply two dual‑mode (electric‑diesel) train sets valued at about 118 million zł. The first unit is scheduled for delivery within 36 months, with the second following a month later, expanding the region’s rolling stock capability for both electrified and non‑electrified routes.
