Tomb Raider celebrates 30th anniversary with Legacy of Atlantis news
Crystal Dynamics, Amazon Game Studios, and Flying Wild Hog are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise. A new teaser trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has been released, showcasing gameplay elements such as combat with dual pistols and a shotgun, platforming, and environmental puzzles. The game, a reimagining of the original 1996 adventure built in Unreal Engine 5, is scheduled for release on February 12, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Experience director Jeff Adams noted that the game is expected to have a playtime of approximately 14 to 16 hours, emphasizing a design that encourages exploration of interconnected environments like the Lost Valley in Peru. The remake will feature updated mechanics, including a grappling hook for navigation and redesigned skill trees.
In addition to gameplay updates, the anniversary includes the release of the ‘Tomb Raider: 30th Anniversary Lo-Fi Collection’. Produced by artist That Norsk Chick, the album features lo-fi hip-hop remixes of music from across the series, including works by original composers like Nathan McCree and Peter Connelly. The collection also incorporates voice samples from Alix Wilton Regan, the voice of Lara Croft in the upcoming remake. The album is currently available on YouTube, with a wider release on streaming platforms expected soon.
