Takumi Minamino returns to pitch for AS Monaco after long injury layoff

AS Monaco midfielder Takumi Minamino has made his competitive return to the pitch following a long-term injury layoff. Minamino started in a friendly match against Italian side Pisa SC on October 3, playing 57 minutes.

The Japanese international had been sidelined for approximately 286 days after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a match against AJ Auxerre on December 21 last year. During the friendly, Minamino demonstrated his recovery by attempting powerful volleys and active attacking plays, despite being unable to score.

AS Monaco manager Filipe Luís commented on the importance of the match for players returning from injury, noting that the international break provided a valuable two-week training period to regain match fitness. Luís expressed his intention to utilize Minamino as much as possible, highlighting his versatility and intelligence on the pitch.
