Takumi Minamino injury recovery at AS Monaco

Overview

AS Monaco midfielder Takumi Minamino is nearing a return to competitive football following a long-term injury. Minamino has been sidelined since December 2025 after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

In early September 2026, Minamino was included in the 22-man squad for a Ligue 1 match against Paris Saint-Germain, an event Monaco described as a “long-awaited homecoming.” While he was part of the traveling squad, he remained an unused substitute.

AS Monaco manager Filipe Luís stated that his inclusion was intended to help the player reintegrate with the team and experience the match atmosphere. Luís noted the need for a gradual fitness progression and expects Minamino to be ready for selection in the near future or following the upcoming international break.
