Toni Servillo presents ‘Scherzetto’ at Venice Film Festival

At the Venice Film Festival, actor Toni Servillo presented Mario Martone’s new film, ‘Scherzetto’, which was screened out of competition. The film, based on a novel by Domenico Starnone, is described as an intense, bittersweet Kammerspiel set in Naples, focusing on two characters at opposite ends of life.

During the festival, Servillo addressed the issue of rising costs and overtourism. He noted that high prices at the Lido make it difficult for young people and students to attend the festival, comparing the situation to housing crises in cities like Lisbon. He remarked that while younger generations used to attend the festival with sleeping bags, current accommodation costs have become prohibitive, even noting rumors of seats being rented out.
