Top 10 Cryptocurrencies by Market Capitalization in 2026
A ranking of the ten largest digital assets by market value shows Bitcoin maintaining its lead with a market cap of US$1.26 trillion, followed by Ethereum at US$210.57 billion. Stablecoin Tether (USDT) is the third largest, valued at US$184.15 billion, while other altcoins complete the list.
Bitcoin, created in 2008 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, remains the original cryptocurrency and a primary store of value, with a capped supply of 21 million coins. Ethereum, launched in 2014 and developed by Vitalik Buterin and co‑founders, introduced smart contracts that expanded blockchain use cases and has no fixed supply limit. Tether, introduced as Realcoin in 2014, is pegged to the U.S. dollar and serves as a stable reference point for traders.
The remaining seven assets together represent the balance of the sector, accounting for roughly 9 % of total market capitalization. The list reflects the sector’s concentration, with the top ten holdings comprising about 91 % of the overall crypto market value as of 9 July 2026.
