Toprak Razgatlioglu urges Yamaha to focus on 850cc development

MotoGP rider Toprak Razgatlioglu has urged Yamaha to prioritize the development of the upcoming 850cc engine regulations over further refinements to the current 1000cc V4 model. Following a difficult Sprint race at MotorLand Aragón, where he finished 13th, the Turkish rider expressed frustration with the Yamaha M1’s lack of top-end speed and acceleration in higher gears.

Razgatlioglu noted that with the current season nearing its end, significant updates to the existing machinery would offer limited benefits. He suggested that concentrating resources on the new technical regulations scheduled for 2027 would be a more effective strategy for both the manufacturer and his future performance.

His first year in MotoGP has been a period of adaptation, characterized by limited points and technical challenges. Razgatlioglu indicated that the transition to the 850cc era, which will also include a shift to Pirelli tires, may align better with his riding style, potentially making the bike feel more similar to a Superbike.
