Toprak Razgatlioglu MotoGP rookie challenges

In July 2026 Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, competing for Pramac Yamaha, highlighted the difficulty of adapting to MotoGP. After the German Grand Prix he blamed the season‑long rotation of tyre compounds for undermining his performance and motivation, noting that each race required a different tyre and that Yamaha’s M1 lagged behind rivals. He recorded 12 points and sat 21st in the standings, the lowest of Yamaha’s four riders.

A few days later Razgatlıoğlu reflected on the broader challenges of his rookie season, describing the mental strain of the steep learning curve from World Superbike to the premier class. Despite the limited results, he emphasized the importance of mindset and noted praise from crew chief Alberto Giribuola for moments of brilliance. Looking ahead, Yamaha plans a lineup reshuffle for 2027, bringing in riders Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura to the factory team and adding rookie Izan Guevara to Pramac alongside Razgatlıoğlu, while the sport’s 2027 technical regulation overhaul may also affect bike and tyre specifications.
