Tornado suspected in severe German storms

Meteorologists suggest that a tornado likely caused severe storm damage across parts of central Germany on a recent Wednesday evening. Felix Dietzsch from the German Weather Service (DWD) tornado expert group stated it is “pretty certain” that a tornado was involved, citing numerous indicators, though investigations are ongoing.

Significant damage was reported in Schlitz (Vogelsbergkreis) and Solms (Lahn-Dill-Kreis). In the Münchholzhausen district of Wetzlar, approximately 60 houses were damaged. Similar weather events and potential tornado activity were also noted near Steinberg am See.
