Toronto kidnapping suspects include three Canadian soldiers

Seven individuals, including three members of the Canadian Armed Forces, have been charged following an armed kidnapping in Toronto targeting a cryptocurrency exchange owner. The incident occurred on July 25 near Finch Avenue East and Bayview Avenue, where the victim was allegedly abducted at gunpoint, handcuffed, and assaulted in an attempt to gain access to digital assets and business security systems.

Toronto Police investigations revealed that the suspects used approximately 2,500 rounds of ammunition and five over-capacity magazines that were allegedly stolen from the Canadian Armed Forces. During searches, officers also seized four firearms—including two with 3D-printed components—silencers, drugs such as methamphetamine and cocaine, and various other criminal items.

The three military members identified are Talarambage Fernando, James Moreau, and Jack Miley, all associated with the 7th Toronto Regiment. Following the charges, the Department of National Defense confirmed the service status of the accused and has restricted their military access pending administrative reviews.
