Toroslar Municipality hosts second annual Yörük cultural festival

The Toroslar Municipality held its second annual Kardeş Göçerler Yörük Event in the Şekerçeşme area of Tırtar Neighborhood. The two-day festival brought together tens of thousands of people, including Yörük, nomadic, and semi-nomadic groups from various regions of Turkey, as well as residents from Mersin and surrounding provinces.

Beyond cultural celebrations, the event focused on strengthening rural production, providing economic support to Yörük communities, increasing the value of local products, and ensuring the transmission of Yörük traditions to future generations. A panel titled ‘Yörük Sohbetleri’ was also held to discuss these topics.

The festivities featured traditional music, folk dances, and regional cuisine. Performances included artists such as Latif Doğan and Aynur Haşhaş, the Kırşehirli Abdallar Music Group, and various local musicians. Cultural displays were also provided by folk dance groups from the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and Mut Municipality.
