Torremolinos‑Benalmádena Water Pipeline Project Passes 50% Completion

The "Autovía del Agua" linking Torremolinos and Benalmádena on Spain’s Costa del Sol has exceeded the halfway point of construction. About 3 km of the planned 5.8 km pipeline have been installed, including more than 600 m of covered pipe in Torremolinos and work on the Pinillo section. The project, financed jointly by the public water company Acosol and the Andalusian regional government, totals €13.6 million and is slated for eight months of work.

Regional officials inspected the site, with Manuel Cardeña of the Mancomunidad de Municipios, Patricia Navarro of the Andalusian government, and the mayors of Torremolinos and Benalmádena present. They highlighted the urgency of replacing deteriorated lines that threatened water safety and pledged that the upgraded infrastructure will increase the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of the local high‑level water supply network.

The initiative aims to meet growing demand, reduce the risk of leaks, and ensure a reliable supply for residents and visitors in an area facing population growth and periodic water scarcity.
