Torreón reinforces security in public spaces and sports courts
The Torreón City Council is reviewing security and operational protocols for municipal sports courts and public spaces following recent incidents of violence and brawls. Mayor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís reported that authorities have been evaluating prevention and response measures in these areas, where conflicts have been linked to alcohol consumption or disputes arising from sporting events.
The security review extends beyond sports facilities to include family recreation areas such as Línea Verde, Bosque Venustiano Carranza, and Bosque Urbano. Proposed actions include increasing the presence of private security in specific locations and conducting periodic patrols by the Municipal Public Security Directorate, particularly during peak hours and in high-risk zones. Additionally, the administration is analyzing sanction mechanisms for those who violate municipal regulations in these spaces.
