Torreón school attack leaves subdirector dead and four injured FAST-MOVING

Two 18-year-old brothers, who are former students, were detained following an attack at the Escuela Secundaria General Número 13 in the Ejido La Unión community of Torreón, Coahuila. The incident, which occurred on a Thursday morning, resulted in the death of the school's subdirector, Nery Edith Narváez González, and left at least four others injured.

Among the injured are two teachers, one student, and a woman. Reports indicate that one teacher is in serious condition and one student's health remains under reservation. While initial reports suggested the use of firearms or explosives, the Coahuila State Attorney General's Office, led by Federico Fernández Montañez, clarified that the attackers primarily used long blades (machetes) and that sounds heard were likely firecrackers or petards used to cause panic.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was an isolated incident motivated by resentment toward the institution and potentially influenced by social media content regarding similar attacks in other countries. Local residents and parents reportedly intervened to detain the suspects before authorities arrived. The Coahuila government is coordinating with federal intelligence to further investigate the motives and ensure legal consequences.
