Torrevieja police seize nearly two tonnes of counterfeit goods
Torrevieja Local Police have seized nearly two tonnes of counterfeit and illegally sold merchandise during 2026 as part of an intensified crackdown on unauthorized street trading. Since April 7, officers have confiscated approximately 1,550 kilograms of goods, distributed across 120 bundles, primarily along the municipality’s seafront promenades.
This latest haul follows the destruction of 400 kilograms of goods seized earlier in the year. In total, the volume of intercepted material for 2026 approaches two tonnes, comprising roughly 5,000 individual items with an estimated illegal market value exceeding €100,000. Notable seizures include 400 T-shirts valued at over €8,000.
Law enforcement has issued 35 seizure reports and initiated 11 investigations into suspected industrial property offenses. Between June and September, 12 special enforcement operations were conducted, involving significant deployments of local police and the Guardia Civil. Authorities reported approximately 25 to 30 instances where sellers abandoned their merchandise and fled upon the arrival of officers.
