Tortosa opens renovated En Porcar spa for 29th Festa del Renaixement

The historic city of Tortosa will inaugurate the restored pavilion of the former En Porcar spa on Thursday, marking the start of the 29th Festa del Renaixement. The €340,000 renovation has made the venue ready for two flagship programmes: the nighttime fire show “Ignis Chorumi” and the family‑friendly production “Lo Drac del Balneari d’en Porcar”, which draws on 16th‑century popular mythology.

Mayor Mar Lleixà highlighted that the refurbished space will also remain open to the public during the festival, while councilor Jordi Jordan noted that ticket sales for the limited‑capacity shows have already exceeded 50 % within 24 hours, underscoring strong local interest. The municipality has deployed a special security and cleaning plan in the historic centre to manage the expected visitor influx.
