Tortosa cultural heritage renovations
Overview
In July 2026 the historic city of Tortosa inaugurated the renovated En Porcar spa pavilion, preparing it for the 29th Festa del Renaixement with new flagship programmes and a public‑access plan during the festival.
A week later, work funded by the European Union and carried out by Turespaña was reported on the 10th‑century underground galleries of the Castell de la Suda. The restoration opened the chambers for guided tours during the same Renaissance Festival, while the Parador hotel within the castle announced an €11.7 million refurbishment slated to begin in January 2027.
Both projects reflect a coordinated effort to revitalize Tortosa’s historic sites, leveraging EU support and aligning major upgrades with the city’s cultural festival schedule.
