TotalEnergies invests 100 million euros in AI partnership with Mistral
TotalEnergies is investing more than 100 million euros in a three-year partnership with the French AI company Mistral to develop specialized language models for oil and gas exploration.
The joint venture aims to create frontier models that combine nearly a century of TotalEnergies' geoscientific expertise with Mistral's technological infrastructure. By establishing a joint scientific laboratory, the companies intend to analyze massive datasets from reservoir exploration to accelerate decision-making and extend the economic viability of existing projects.
TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné noted that exploration and reservoir technology are areas where artificial intelligence can provide the greatest business value. Mistral CEO Arthur Mensch emphasized that the collaboration serves as a testament to the strength of European industrial and digital capacities.
