Two days later Microsoft announced a multibillion‑dollar financing deal to enlarge the French data‑centre capacity, providing Azure credits and scaling the Vera Rubin fleet. In parallel, Spanish investment vehicle Merlin unveiled a €7.84 billion “MEGA” programme to build a 730 MW network of data centres across Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Lisbon and other sites by 2032, leveraging renewable energy and submarine‑cable links to position the Iberian Peninsula as a hub for AI and cloud services.
