TotalEnergies stations see surges due to fuel price caps

TotalEnergies service stations in France are experiencing significant surges in customer traffic due to the company’s reactivation of fuel price caps. In regions such as Doubs and Charente, long queues of motorists have formed, sometimes stretching over 500 meters and requiring police intervention to regulate traffic.

The rush is driven by price differences compared to the national average. TotalEnergies has implemented a cap of €1.99 per liter for gasoline and €2.25 per liter for diesel at its stations in mainland France. For customers with specific TotalEnergies electricity and gas contracts, the cap for both fuel types is set at €1.99.

In some areas, such as Pirey, the high demand has led to concerns regarding supply stability, with station managers noting that rapid consumption could lead to further shortages if replenishment does not keep pace with the influx of drivers seeking lower prices.
